About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a tightly contested Bundesliga clash, Eintracht Frankfurt edged past VfL Wolfsburg with a 2-1 victory on Saturday, 11 April 2026. The match was marked by early dominance from Frankfurt, who took control with two first-half goals, while Wolfsburg's late surge was not enough to salvage a point. Eintracht Frankfurt set the tone early with Winther Højlund (GAP -3.2%) opening the scoring in the 21st minute. His goal was a result of a well-executed team move that caught the Wolfsburg defense off guard. Arnaud Kalimuendo (GAP -1.3%) doubled the lead for Frankfurt in the 32nd minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to put the visitors in a commanding position. Wolfsburg struggled to find their rhythm in the first half, but the introduction of substitutes like Dzenan Pejcinovic proved pivotal. Pejcinovic scored a late goal in the 90th minute, offering a glimmer of hope for the home side. However, it was too little, too late as Frankfurt held on for the win. Tactically, Wolfsburg's manager made five changes during the match, bringing in Maximilian Arnold, Kento Shiogai, Lovro Majer, Dzenan Pejcinovic, and Adam Daghim. These substitutions injected some much-needed energy into the team, but ultimately, the early deficit was too significant to overcome. Eintracht Frankfurt's head coach also made strategic changes, introducing Younes Ebnoutalib, Paul Arrhov, Can Uzun, Ellyes Skhiri, and Ansgar Knauff to maintain their lead. The result sees Eintracht Frankfurt solidifying their position in the Bundesliga standings, while Wolfsburg will need to regroup and address their defensive vulnerabilities. This victory could be a crucial boost for Frankfurt as they aim to climb higher in the league table. Post-match reactions highlighted the effectiveness of Frankfurt's early attacking strategy and the resilience of their defense, which managed to withstand Wolfsburg's late pressure. The win reflects Frankfurt's improving form, while Wolfsburg will look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
