Game Review
In a commanding Bundesliga performance, VfB Stuttgart dismantled Hamburger SV with a 4-0 victory on Sunday, 12 April 2026. This result was not entirely unexpected given Stuttgart's recent form and home advantage, but the margin of victory certainly raised eyebrows. The match began with Stuttgart asserting their dominance early on. Angelo Stiller (GAP +2.5%) opened the scoring in the 21st minute, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Chris Führich (GAP +0.8%) doubled the lead in the 32nd minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Hamburger SV. The first half ended with Stuttgart firmly in control. Hamburger SV struggled to find their footing throughout the match, and Stuttgart continued to exploit their defensive vulnerabilities. Maximilian Mittelstädt (GAP +2.7%) added a third goal in the 56th minute, effectively sealing the victory. Bilal El Khannous, who came on as a substitute, capped off the scoring in the 86th minute, ensuring a comprehensive win for the home side. From a tactical perspective, Stuttgart's manager made effective use of his substitutes, bringing in Bilal El Khannous, Tiago Tomás, Josha Vagnoman, Jeremy Arévalo, and Nikolas Nartey to maintain the team's intensity and secure the win. Hamburger SV's head coach also made several changes, introducing Otto Stange, Robert Glatzel, Nicolás Capaldo, and Giorgi Gocholeishvili, but these adjustments failed to alter the course of the match. Deniz Undav (GAP +5.1%) was a standout performer for Stuttgart, contributing significantly to their attacking play. His influence was evident throughout the match, as he orchestrated several key moves that kept Hamburger SV on the back foot. This victory propels VfB Stuttgart further up the Bundesliga table, consolidating their position and boosting their confidence as the season approaches its climax. For Hamburger SV, this defeat highlights the need for tactical reassessment and defensive improvements if they are to avoid slipping further down the standings. Overall, Stuttgart's emphatic win underscores their potential to challenge for higher honors, while Hamburger SV must regroup quickly to avoid further setbacks.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
