Game Review
Hamburger SV and 1. FC Köln played out a 1-1 draw in their Bundesliga clash on Saturday, 14 March 2026. The match was a balanced affair, with both teams having their moments but ultimately sharing the spoils. This result was not entirely unexpected given both teams' mid-table positions and recent form. The game saw Hamburger SV take the lead in the 39th minute through Fábio Vieira (GAP +0.2%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse to put the hosts ahead. However, 1. FC Köln responded swiftly, with Said El Mala (GAP +0.8%) equalizing just before halftime in the 45th minute. Both goals highlighted the attacking prowess of the respective teams, but also underscored defensive vulnerabilities. From a tactical perspective, Hamburger SV's lineup featured Jordan Torunarigha (GAP +1.4%) and Luka Vušković (GAP +2.5%) in key defensive roles, while 1. FC Köln relied on the defensive solidity of Cenk Özkacar (GAP -2.8%) and Rav van den Berg (GAP -0.9%). The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) data suggests that William Mikelbrencis (GAP -2.7%) and Ragnar Ache (GAP -2.5%) had challenging outings, which may have influenced the overall balance of play. Both managers made several substitutions to try and tip the balance in their favor. Hamburger SV introduced Daniel Elfadli, Philip Otele, Jean-Luc Dompe, Fábio Baldé, and Otto Emerson Stange, while 1. FC Köln brought on Sebastian Sebulonsen, Florian Kainz, and Marius Bülter. These changes did not significantly alter the course of the match, as both teams seemed content to settle for a point. This draw leaves Hamburger SV and 1. FC Köln in similar positions in the Bundesliga table, with neither team making significant strides towards European qualification or away from the relegation zone. Both teams will need to find more consistency in their performances if they are to climb the table in the remaining weeks of the season.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
