Game Review
FSV Mainz 05 secured a convincing 2-0 victory over FC Augsburg in their Bundesliga clash on Saturday, 7 February 2026. The match was largely dominated by Mainz, with Nadiem Amiri (GAP +3.8%) emerging as the standout performer, scoring both goals for the home side. The game started with Mainz taking an early lead in the 8th minute, thanks to a well-executed goal by Amiri. This early strike set the tone for the match, as Mainz maintained control and limited Augsburg's opportunities to respond. Despite Augsburg's efforts, they struggled to break down a resolute Mainz defense led by Stefan Bell (GAP +2.6%) and Dominik Kohr (GAP +4.2%). Mainz's tactical setup proved effective, with Silas Katompa Mvumpa (GAP +4.7%) providing significant contributions in attack. The second half saw Mainz continue to press, and their persistence paid off in the 80th minute when Amiri doubled the lead, effectively sealing the victory. Both teams made several changes to their lineups. Mainz's manager opted for a fresh approach, bringing in Kacper Potulski, Phillipp Mwene, Paul Nebel, Sheraldo Becker, and Lennard Maloney as substitutes. Augsburg's head coach also made tactical adjustments, introducing Rodrigo Duarte Ribeiro, Anton Kade, Kristijan Jakić, Fabian Rieder, and Cédric Zesiger from the bench. This result was somewhat expected given Mainz's recent form and home advantage. Mainz has been in solid form, and this win further consolidates their position in the league, boosting their confidence as they aim for a strong finish to the season. Augsburg, on the other hand, will need to regroup and address their shortcomings as they look to improve their standing in the Bundesliga. Post-match reactions highlighted Amiri's influential performance, with fans and pundits praising his decisive contributions. The victory keeps Mainz in a competitive position in the league, while Augsburg faces the challenge of bouncing back in their upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
