Game Review
In a tightly contested Premier League encounter at Villa Park, Tottenham Hotspur edged past Aston Villa with a 2-1 victory. The result was somewhat expected given Tottenham's recent form, as they were coming off a strong run with three wins in their last five matches. Aston Villa, on the other hand, had been struggling to find consistency, making this a crucial fixture for both sides. The match began with Tottenham asserting their dominance early on. Conor Gallagher (GAP -0.7%) opened the scoring in the 12th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Aston Villa. Richarlison (GAP 0.0%) doubled the lead for the visitors in the 25th minute, showcasing his clinical finishing ability. Aston Villa's defense, despite the presence of Tyrone Mings (GAP +1.6%), struggled to contain Tottenham's attacking prowess in the first half. Aston Villa made several changes to their lineup, with six new faces compared to their previous game. Ross Barkley (GAP -1.5%), Tyrone Mings, Tammy Abraham (GAP -0.1%), Victor Lindelof (GAP +1.0%), Jadon Sancho (GAP +1.6%), and Ian Maatsen (GAP +5.5%) were brought in, while Emiliano Buendia, Lucas Digne, Ollie Watkins, John McGinn, Ezri Konsa, and Pau Torres were left out. These changes seemed to be a tactical decision by the manager to inject fresh energy into the squad. Tottenham made four changes, introducing Richarlison, Joao Palhinha (GAP +0.1%), Destiny Udogie (GAP -1.3%), and Mathys Tel (GAP +0.2%) into the starting lineup. These adjustments were likely influenced by injuries and suspensions, as several key players were unavailable. The second half saw Aston Villa attempting to mount a comeback. Emiliano Buendia, who came on as a substitute, scored a late consolation goal in the 90th minute, but it was too little, too late for the home side. Despite the efforts of Matty Cash (GAP +4.1%) and Ian Maatsen, who was particularly impressive, Villa couldn't find the equalizer. Post-match reactions highlighted Tottenham's resilience and tactical discipline, with the away team's head coach praising the squad's ability to manage the game effectively. Aston Villa's manager, meanwhile, expressed disappointment but acknowledged the positive impact of the substitutes. This victory solidifies Tottenham's position in the top half of the table, boosting their hopes for European qualification. Aston Villa, however, remain in the mid-table, needing to find form quickly to end the season on a high note.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
