Game Review
Newcastle United secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in their Premier League clash at St James' Park. The result was largely expected given Newcastle's strong form, having entered the match with a series of positive results. Brighton, on the other hand, struggled to find consistency in recent weeks. The match began with Newcastle taking an early lead through William Daugaard Osula (GAP +3.2%), who found the net in the 12th minute. Dan Burn (GAP +3.0%) doubled the advantage for the home side in the 24th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Brighton. Despite Brighton's efforts to claw back into the game, it wasn't until the 61st minute that Jack Hinshelwood (GAP +1.0%) managed to pull one back for the visitors. Newcastle's tactical setup proved effective, with Joelinton (GAP +4.1%) and Bruno Guimarães (GAP +4.0%) controlling the midfield and limiting Brighton's creative outlets. The introduction of Harvey Barnes in the latter stages added fresh energy, and he sealed the victory with a goal in the 90th minute. Both teams made one change to their starting lineups compared to their previous matches. Newcastle's manager opted to bring in Joelinton, replacing Jacob Ramsey, while Brighton's head coach introduced Danny Welbeck (GAP +3.2%) in place of Georginio Rutter. These changes reflected strategic adjustments, although specific reasons for the changes were not disclosed. The win solidifies Newcastle's position in the upper half of the table, maintaining their momentum as they aim for a strong finish to the season. Brighton, meanwhile, will need to regroup and address their defensive vulnerabilities to improve their standings in the remaining fixtures.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
