About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Preview for the game FC Bayern München vs VfB Stuttgart

Bayern come into this Gameweek 30 clash in strong domestic form, having taken 13 points from their last five Bundesliga matches with four wins and a draw. Stuttgart are not far behind with 10 points over the same span, reflecting three wins, one draw and a single defeat. The Plus Minus model makes Bayern clear favourites with a 72% chance of a home win, compared to 15% for the draw and 14% for a Stuttgart victory. Recent head-to-head data is heavily tilted towards Bayern. They have won three of the last four league meetings, including a 5-0 away win in December 2025 and a 4-0 home victory in October 2024. Stuttgart’s lone success in that run was a 3-1 home win in May 2024, showing they can trouble Bayern if they hit their ceiling. For the hosts, the creative influence of Joshua Kimmich (GAP +9.9%) and the attacking threat of Luis Díaz (GAP +7.1%) look central to breaking down Stuttgart’s defence. Stuttgart will lean on the shot-stopping of Alexander Nübel (GAP +4.5%) and the penalty-box presence of Deniz Undav (GAP +5.1%) if available, as they try to convert their recent solid form into a result against a side they have struggled to contain. Injuries and availability Bayern have a lengthy list of absentees and doubts. Leon Klanac is sidelined with a thigh injury and is not expected back for around four months, while Wisdom Mike faces roughly a month out after a serious setback. David Santos and Cassiano Kiala are also due to miss about a month or more with thigh and syndesmosis injuries respectively. Guido Della Rovere and Lennart Karl are both working back from thigh muscle problems and could return within the next few days, with Maycon Cardozo also targeting a comeback in just over a week from a similar issue. Sven Ulreich remains in rehab after an adductor muscle bundle tear and is likely to be out for about another month. For Stuttgart, key forward Deniz Undav is listed as suspended due to a fifth yellow card, which would be a significant blow given his expected role in attack.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
