Game Review
In a thrilling Bundesliga encounter, VfB Stuttgart triumphed over FC Augsburg with a commanding 5-2 victory. The match, held on Sunday, 22 March 2026, saw Stuttgart's attacking prowess on full display, leaving Augsburg struggling to keep pace. This result was somewhat expected given Stuttgart's recent form, having entered the game with a strong run of performances. The game kicked off with Stuttgart quickly asserting their dominance. Deniz Undav (GAP +5.1%) opened the scoring in the 12th minute, setting the tone for what would be a prolific day for the visitors. Tiago Tomás (GAP +0.2%) doubled the lead in the 29th minute, and just two minutes later, Nikolas Nartey (GAP +4.7%) made it 3-0, leaving Augsburg reeling before the half-hour mark. Augsburg managed to pull one back in the 57th minute through Fabian Rieder (GAP -2.1%), but any hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed as Undav scored his second goal just a minute later. Anton Kade, coming off the bench, added a second for Augsburg in the 71st minute, but Stuttgart's substitute Ermedin Demirović sealed the victory with a goal in the 83rd minute. Tactically, Stuttgart's manager made no changes to the starting lineup from their previous match, maintaining a consistent approach that has served them well. Augsburg's manager, on the other hand, opted for a fresh lineup, bringing in players like Anton Kade and Kristijan Jakić, although the reasons for these changes were not specified in post-match reports. Stuttgart's victory solidifies their position in the upper half of the Bundesliga table, continuing their push for European qualification. Meanwhile, Augsburg will need to regroup quickly as they find themselves slipping further down the standings, with defensive frailties evident in this heavy defeat. Post-match reactions highlighted Stuttgart's clinical finishing and Undav's standout performance as key factors in their success. Augsburg will need to address their defensive issues if they are to improve their fortunes in the coming weeks.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
