About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a thrilling Bundesliga encounter, FC Augsburg edged out VfL Wolfsburg with a 3-2 victory, a result that might have surprised some given Wolfsburg's home advantage. The match, played on Saturday, 21 February 2026, saw Augsburg come from behind to secure all three points, showcasing their resilience and tactical acumen. The game began with Wolfsburg taking the lead in the 41st minute through Yannick Gerhardt (GAP +0.9%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse to put the hosts ahead. However, Augsburg responded strongly in the second half. Rodrigo Duarte Ribeiro (GAP -1.2%) equalized in the 59th minute, setting the stage for a dramatic finish. Wolfsburg regained the lead in the 71st minute thanks to substitute Kento Shiogai, who made an immediate impact after coming on. Yet, Augsburg's substitutions proved decisive. Michael Gregoritsch (GAP not listed) scored in the 87th minute to level the score once more, and just three minutes later, Elvis Rexhbeçaj, another substitute, netted the winner in the 90th minute, completing a remarkable turnaround. Tactically, Augsburg's head coach made effective use of his bench, bringing on Gregoritsch and Rexhbeçaj, who both scored crucial goals. Wolfsburg's manager also made several changes, introducing Jonas Adjetey, Kevin Paredes, Kento Shiogai, and Dzenan Pejcinovic, but it was Augsburg's substitutions that ultimately made the difference. In terms of individual performances, Mohammed Amoura (GAP +4.6%) stood out for Wolfsburg, providing energy and creativity, although it wasn't enough to secure a win. For Augsburg, Finn Dahmen (GAP +1.3%) was solid in goal, making several key saves to keep his team in the game. This victory propels FC Augsburg further up the Bundesliga table, enhancing their momentum as they look to climb higher in the standings. For Wolfsburg, the loss is a setback, but they will aim to bounce back in their next fixture. The result highlights the unpredictable nature of the Bundesliga, where any team can triumph on their day.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
