Game Review
RB Leipzig secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over FC Augsburg in their Bundesliga clash on Saturday, 7 March 2026. The match, held at Leipzig's home ground, saw the hosts come from behind to claim all three points, a result that aligns with pre-match expectations given Leipzig's superior league position and form. The game began with FC Augsburg taking an unexpected lead in the 39th minute through Robin Fellhauer, who capitalized on a defensive lapse from Leipzig. Despite Augsburg's early advantage, Leipzig maintained their composure and gradually took control of the match. The turning point came in the 76th minute when Yan Diomande (GAP +2.1%) equalized for Leipzig, showcasing his attacking prowess. The momentum firmly shifted in Leipzig's favor, and they continued to press for the winner. Their persistence paid off in the dying moments of the match when Arthur Chaves (GAP -0.1%) inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, handing Leipzig a dramatic victory. From a tactical perspective, Leipzig's manager made full use of his substitutes, bringing on Benjamin Henrichs, Johan Bakayoko, Ezechiel Banzuzi, Conrad Harder, and Tidiam Gomis to inject fresh energy into the team. Augsburg's head coach also made several changes, introducing Elvis Rexhbeçaj, Marius Wolf, Michael Gregoritsch, and Anton Kade, but these adjustments were unable to alter the outcome. Key performances came from Castello Lukeba (GAP +5.7%), who was instrumental in Leipzig's defensive solidity, and Brajan Gruda (GAP +4.5%), whose creativity in midfield helped unlock Augsburg's defense. This victory consolidates RB Leipzig's position in the upper echelons of the Bundesliga table, maintaining their push for European qualification. Meanwhile, FC Augsburg will need to regroup quickly as they continue to hover around the lower half of the standings, with survival in the top flight still a pressing concern.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
