About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Osasuna secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Girona in their La Liga clash on Saturday, 21 March 2026. The match was tightly contested, with both teams struggling to break the deadlock until Ante Budimir (GAP +2.4%) found the back of the net in the 80th minute, delivering the decisive goal for the home side. This result was somewhat expected given Osasuna's recent form and home advantage. The game was characterized by a cautious approach from both teams, with neither side willing to take significant risks early on. Osasuna's defense, marshaled by Alejandro Catena (GAP +1.8%), held firm against Girona's attempts to penetrate, while Sergio Herrera (GAP +1.9%) was reliable between the posts, ensuring a clean sheet. In terms of tactical adjustments, Osasuna made use of their substitutes effectively, bringing in Abel Bretones, Raúl García, Kike Barja, and Asier Osambela to inject fresh energy into the side. Girona, on the other hand, introduced Thomas Lemar, Abel Ruiz, Álex Moreno, Claudio Echeverri, and Iván Martín in an attempt to change the game's dynamics, but they were unable to find a breakthrough. Javi Galán (GAP +3.4%) was instrumental in Osasuna's defensive solidity, while Azzedine Ounahi (GAP +4.0%) stood out for Girona, showcasing his ability to control the midfield. However, it was Budimir's late strike that ultimately separated the two teams. This victory sees Osasuna maintain their mid-table position, providing a boost in confidence as they look to climb higher in the standings. Girona, meanwhile, will need to regroup and address their attacking inefficiencies if they are to improve their league position in the coming weeks.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
