Valencia secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Sevilla in their La Liga clash on Saturday, 21 March 2026. The win was a significant result for Valencia, who were looking to improve their standing in the league. Sevilla, on the other hand, faced disappointment as they failed to capitalize on their home advantage. The match saw Valencia take control with two first-half goals. Hugo Duro (GAP -0.9%) opened the scoring in the 38th minute, giving the visitors a lead that they would not relinquish. Just before the halftime whistle, Largie Ramazani (GAP -1.3%) doubled Valencia's advantage, putting them in a commanding position. Sevilla struggled to break down a resolute Valencia defense, with key players like Alexis Sánchez (GAP -3.5%) and Neal Maupay (GAP +1.5%) unable to make a significant impact. The home side's manager made several changes throughout the match, bringing on Isaac Romero, Akor Adams, Oso, Andrés Castrín, Batista Mendy, and José Ángel Carmona in an attempt to turn the tide, but these substitutions did not yield the desired effect. Valencia's lineup included notable performances from Guido Rodríguez (GAP +5.0%), who was instrumental in midfield, and Unai Núñez (GAP +3.3%), who helped maintain a solid defensive line. The away team's head coach opted for a strategic approach, making substitutions such as Jesús Vázquez, Umar Sadiq, Lucas Beltrán, Diego López, and Pepelu to maintain their lead and secure the win. This result leaves Sevilla needing to reassess their strategy as they aim to climb the La Liga table. Meanwhile, Valencia will be buoyed by this performance, which could serve as a catalyst for a strong finish to the season. The victory not only boosts their confidence but also their position in the league standings, as they look to secure a spot in European competitions. Post-match reactions highlighted the tactical discipline of Valencia and the need for Sevilla to improve their attacking efficiency. The match was a testament to Valencia's ability to execute their game plan effectively, leaving Sevilla to ponder what might have been.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
