About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a tightly contested Bundesliga encounter, Hamburger SV and FC Augsburg shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw on Saturday. The match, held as part of Gameweek 28, saw both teams battling for crucial points in their respective campaigns. The result was fairly balanced, reflecting the pre-match expectations that suggested a close contest. The game began with FC Augsburg taking an early lead through Arthur Chaves (GAP -0.7%), who found the back of the net in the 22nd minute. This goal set the tone for a competitive first half, with both teams creating opportunities but failing to convert further. Hamburger SV responded in the second half, with Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer (GAP -1.1%) leveling the score in the 60th minute. His goal was a crucial moment for the home side, who were looking to capitalize on their home advantage. A significant turning point came shortly after Hamburger SV's equalizer when Miro Muheim (GAP +0.5%) received a red card in the 64th minute, leaving his team to play the remainder of the match with ten men. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Hamburger SV managed to hold on for a draw, showcasing resilience and tactical discipline. In terms of tactical adjustments, Hamburger SV made four substitutions, bringing in Otto Stange, Albert Grønbæk, Giorgi Gocholeishvili, and Rayan Philippe. FC Augsburg also utilized their bench, introducing Uchenna Ogundu, Rodrigo Ribeiro, and Han-Noah Massengo to inject fresh energy into their lineup. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) statistics highlighted some key performances, with Luka Vušković (GAP +1.9%) and Michael Gregoritsch (GAP +1.2%) standing out for their respective teams. This draw leaves Hamburger SV and FC Augsburg in a precarious position as they look to improve their standings in the Bundesliga table. Both teams will need to capitalize on upcoming fixtures to secure their league status and potentially climb higher in the rankings.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
