Game Review
In a commanding Bundesliga performance, 1899 Hoffenheim secured a 3-0 victory over SC Freiburg on Saturday, 14 February 2026. This result was somewhat expected given Hoffenheim's recent form and home advantage, although the margin of victory was impressive. The match saw Hoffenheim take control in the second half, with Ozan Kabak (GAP +3.8%) opening the scoring in the 51st minute. Fisnik Asllani (GAP +1.0%) doubled the lead just after the break, and substitute Valentin Gendrey sealed the win with a late goal in the 90th minute. Hoffenheim's tactical setup allowed them to dominate possession and create numerous chances, effectively stifling Freiburg's attacking efforts. Hoffenheim's lineup featured several key players, including Andrej Kramarić (GAP +1.9%) and Vladimír Coufal (GAP +6.3%), who were instrumental in maintaining the team's defensive solidity and offensive transitions. The home team made four substitutions, bringing in Ihlas Bebou, Valentin Gendrey, Max Moerstedt, and Alexander Prass, which added fresh energy and helped maintain their dominance throughout the match. SC Freiburg struggled to find their rhythm, with Lucas Höler (GAP -1.5%) and Yuito Suzuki (GAP -1.2%) unable to make significant impacts. The away team also made five changes, introducing Igor Matanovic, Vincenzo Grifo, Jan-Niklas Beste, Anthony Jung, and Maximilian Rosenfelder, but these adjustments failed to alter the course of the game. Post-match reactions highlighted Hoffenheim's clinical finishing and solid defensive display as key factors in their victory. The win propels Hoffenheim further up the Bundesliga table, enhancing their momentum as they aim for a strong finish to the season. Meanwhile, Freiburg will need to regroup and address their tactical shortcomings to improve their league standing.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
