About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In an engaging Serie A encounter, Atalanta and Udinese played out a 2-2 draw on Saturday, 7 March 2026. The match, held at Atalanta's home ground, saw both teams share the spoils in a game that was evenly contested throughout. Udinese took the lead in the 40th minute through Thomas Kristensen (GAP +0.8%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse to put the visitors ahead. Keinan Davis (GAP +0.7%) doubled Udinese's advantage in the 55th minute, seemingly putting them in control of the match. However, Atalanta's resilience shone through as Gianluca Scamacca (GAP +1.2%) turned the game on its head with a quickfire brace in the 75th and 79th minutes, ensuring the hosts salvaged a point. Tactically, Atalanta's manager made five changes during the match, bringing in Berat Djimsiti, Davide Zappacosta, Nicola Zalewski, Marten de Roon, and Nikola Krstović. These substitutions were pivotal in shifting the momentum back in Atalanta's favor, particularly the introduction of Marten de Roon, who added stability in midfield. For Udinese, the head coach opted for four substitutions, introducing Arthur Atta, Juan Arizala Micolta, Adam Buksa, and Lennon Miller. These changes aimed to maintain their lead but ultimately could not prevent Atalanta's comeback. In terms of individual performances, Marco Carnesecchi (GAP +3.9%) was instrumental for Atalanta, making several crucial saves to keep his team in the game. On the other hand, Lorenzo Bernasconi (GAP +3.7%) also stood out with his dynamic play. This result leaves Atalanta in a precarious position as they continue to chase European qualification spots, while Udinese will be content with a point away from home, helping them maintain their mid-table stability. Both teams will look to build on this performance in their upcoming fixtures as the Serie A season progresses.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
