About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a closely contested Serie A encounter, Atalanta edged past Cremonese with a 2-1 victory, a result that aligns with pre-match expectations given Atalanta's stronger league position. The match unfolded with Atalanta taking an early lead through Nikola Krstović (GAP +0.7%) in the 13th minute, setting the tone for the home side. Davide Zappacosta (GAP +2.7%) doubled the advantage in the 25th minute, showcasing his attacking prowess from the wing. Cremonese, however, did not go down without a fight. Morten Thorsby (GAP +0.5%) pulled one back in the 90th minute, but it was too little too late for the visitors. Despite the late surge, Atalanta's defense, bolstered by the performances of Sead Kolasinac (GAP +3.3%) and Berat Djimsiti (GAP +3.0%), held firm to secure the three points. Tactically, Atalanta's manager made five substitutions, bringing in Raoul Bellanova, Odilon Kossounou, Yunus Musah, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Lorenzo Bernasconi, which provided fresh legs and maintained their defensive solidity. Cremonese's head coach also made five changes, introducing Antonio Sanabria, Milan Đurić, Martín Payero, Filippo Terracciano, and Alessio Zerbin, in an attempt to inject energy and creativity into their play. The standout performance came from Éderson (GAP +4.5%), who controlled the midfield and was instrumental in both defensive duties and initiating attacks. Marco Carnesecchi (GAP +4.3%) also delivered a solid performance between the posts, ensuring Atalanta's lead was preserved. This victory keeps Atalanta in a competitive position in the Serie A standings, as they continue to push for a European qualification spot. For Cremonese, the loss highlights the need for improvements, particularly in their defensive organization, as they aim to climb out of the lower half of the table. The result reflects Atalanta's superior form and tactical execution, while Cremonese will need to regroup and strategize for upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
