About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a tightly contested Serie A clash, Fiorentina and Parma played out a goalless draw on Sunday, 8 March 2026. The match, held as part of Gameweek 28, saw both teams struggle to break down each other's defenses, resulting in a stalemate that perhaps reflects the cautious approach both sides took. The game was characterized by a lack of clear-cut chances, with neither team able to capitalize on their possession. Fiorentina, featuring David de Gea (GAP -1.0%) in goal, managed to keep a clean sheet but failed to convert their opportunities into goals. Parma's Gabriel Espeto (GAP +2.1%) was instrumental in ensuring his side also left with a point, showcasing a solid defensive performance. Tactically, Fiorentina's manager opted for a lineup that included Rolando Mandragora (GAP -1.0%) and Robin Gosens (GAP +2.0%), both of whom played pivotal roles in maintaining midfield stability. However, the lack of offensive output was evident, as Roberto Piccoli (GAP -1.1%) and Jack Harrison (GAP -0.8%) were unable to find the back of the net. Parma, on the other hand, made several substitutions, bringing in Gaetano Oristanio and Christian Ordoñez to inject fresh energy into the squad. Despite these changes, the team, led by Hans Nicolussi Caviglia (GAP -2.2%), could not break the deadlock. The result leaves Fiorentina and Parma in a similar position in the Serie A standings, with both teams needing to find more consistency in their performances to climb the table. Fiorentina will be looking to improve their attacking prowess in upcoming fixtures, while Parma will aim to build on their defensive solidity. Post-match reactions highlighted the need for both teams to enhance their offensive strategies, with fans expressing a desire for more dynamic play in future matches. As the season progresses, both Fiorentina and Parma will need to address these issues to achieve their respective goals.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
