Game Review
In a thrilling Serie A encounter, Pisa secured a 3-1 victory over Cagliari on Sunday, 15 March 2026. This result was somewhat unexpected as Cagliari, despite their struggles, were anticipated to put up a stronger fight against a Pisa side that has been inconsistent this season. The match began with Pisa taking an early lead through Stefano Moreo (GAP -1.6%) in the 9th minute. This set the tone for the home side, who capitalized on their momentum. However, the game took a dramatic turn in the 37th minute when Pisa's Rafiu Adekunle Durosinmi received a red card, leaving the hosts with ten men. Despite this setback, Pisa managed to extend their lead in the second half with two quick goals from Antonio Caracciolo (GAP -0.6%) in the 52nd and 54th minutes, showcasing his prowess in front of goal. Cagliari managed to pull one back in the 67th minute through substitute Leonardo Pavoletti, but it was too little too late. The visitors' hopes of a comeback were further dashed when Adam Obert (GAP -2.9%) was sent off in the 81st minute, reducing them to ten men as well. Tactically, Pisa's ability to maintain their structure and exploit Cagliari's defensive lapses was crucial. The home team manager made strategic substitutions, bringing in Raúl Albiol, Idrissa Touré, Ebenezer Ajodun Akinsanmiro, and Malthe Höjholt to bolster the squad. Cagliari's head coach also made changes, introducing Gabriele Zappa, Luca Mazzitelli, and Leonardo Pavoletti, but these adjustments failed to turn the tide. This victory propels Pisa further up the Serie A table, providing a much-needed boost in their quest for a mid-table finish. For Cagliari, the defeat compounds their woes, leaving them precariously close to the relegation zone. The result highlights the resilience of Pisa, who managed to secure a win despite being a man down for a significant portion of the match.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
