About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Levante secured a thrilling 4-2 victory over Real Oviedo in their La Liga clash on Saturday, 21 March 2026. The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with Levante taking an early lead and Real Oviedo fighting back before ultimately succumbing to Levante's attacking prowess. The game kicked off with Levante's Carlos Espí (GAP -1.5%) making an immediate impact, scoring in the 4th minute and again in the 25th minute to give the home side a commanding lead. However, Real Oviedo responded just before halftime with goals from Ilyas Chaira (GAP -3.0%) in the 44th minute and Federico Viñas (GAP -0.1%) in the 45th minute, leveling the scoreline and setting up an intriguing second half. Levante regained control in the second half, with Iker Losada (GAP -0.5%) finding the net in the 52nd minute. The match was sealed in the 90th minute when substitute Iván Romero scored, ensuring Levante took all three points. In terms of tactical adjustments, Levante made five substitutions, bringing on Tai Abed Kassus, Kervin Arriaga, Ugo Raghouber, Pablo Martínez, and Iván Romero. Real Oviedo also made five changes, introducing Rahim Alhassane, Santi Cazorla, Haissem Hassan, Álex Forés Mendoza, and Santiago Colombatto. These changes reflected both teams' attempts to alter the game's dynamics, with Levante's substitutions proving more effective. The result was somewhat expected given Levante's strong home form, but Real Oviedo's spirited comeback in the first half showcased their resilience. This victory helps Levante maintain their momentum in the league, while Real Oviedo will need to regroup and address their defensive vulnerabilities. Post-match reactions highlighted Levante's attacking efficiency and Real Oviedo's need to tighten their defense. The win keeps Levante in a strong position as they continue to push up the La Liga table, while Real Oviedo will be looking to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
