About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Elche secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Mallorca in their La Liga clash on Saturday, 21 March 2026. The match, part of Gameweek 29, saw Elche overturn a deficit to claim all three points, a result that might have surprised some given Mallorca's recent form. The game began with both teams probing for openings, but it was Mallorca who struck first. Pablo Torre (GAP +0.2%) opened the scoring in the 58th minute, giving the visitors a brief lead. However, Elche responded swiftly. Just four minutes later, Rafa Mir (GAP +0.8%) equalized, showcasing his clinical finishing ability. The decisive moment came in the 71st minute when Tete Morente (GAP -4.9%) scored to put Elche ahead, a lead they would not relinquish. Tactically, Elche's manager made effective use of his substitutes, bringing on Buba Sangaré, Gonzalo Villar, Adrià Pedrosa, Federico Redondo, and Léo Pétrot to maintain the team's momentum and secure the win. Mallorca's head coach also made changes, introducing Manu Morlanes, Justin-Noël Kalumba, and Sergi Darder in an attempt to regain control, but these adjustments fell short. Pedro Bigas (GAP +2.3%) was a standout performer for Elche, contributing significantly to their defensive solidity and helping to neutralize Mallorca's attacking threats. Meanwhile, Mallorca's Vedat Muriqi (GAP +0.7%) was unable to make a significant impact despite his efforts. This victory is a significant boost for Elche, who are looking to climb the La Liga table. For Mallorca, the defeat is a setback in their quest for a higher league position. Both teams will need to reassess and prepare for their upcoming fixtures as the season progresses.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
