Game Review
Crystal Palace secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in their Premier League clash at Selhurst Park. The match, part of Gameweek 32, saw Crystal Palace overturn a first-half deficit with two late goals from substitute Jean-Philippe Mateta. The game began with Newcastle United taking the lead in the 43rd minute through William Daugaard Osula, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to put the visitors ahead. Crystal Palace, however, remained resilient and gradually grew into the game. The turning point came in the 80th minute when Jean-Philippe Mateta, who was brought on as a substitute, leveled the score for Crystal Palace. Mateta's impact was immediate and decisive, as he struck again in the 90th minute to seal the win for the home side. Tactically, Crystal Palace's manager made three changes to the starting lineup, introducing Dean Henderson, Yéremy Pino, and Daniel Muñoz, while dropping Ismaïla Sarr, Walter Benítez, and Evann Guessand. These changes appeared to bolster the team's defensive solidity and attacking options. Dean Henderson (GAP +1.9%) was particularly influential, providing a stable presence in goal. Newcastle United's head coach opted for a more extensive rotation, making six changes. Jacob Murphy (GAP +1.8%), Sandro Tonali, Malick Thiaw, Valentino Livramento (GAP +5.2%), Lewis Miley, and William Daugaard Osula were brought into the starting eleven. Despite these changes, Newcastle struggled to maintain their early advantage. Valentino Livramento's performance stood out, as his GAP of +5.2% highlighted his contribution, although it was not enough to prevent the defeat. This result sees Crystal Palace gaining momentum as they aim to climb the Premier League table, while Newcastle United will need to regroup quickly to avoid slipping further down the standings. The victory was a testament to Crystal Palace's resilience and tactical flexibility, particularly in the closing stages of the match.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
