Game Review
Atalanta secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Lazio in their Serie A clash on Saturday, 14 February 2026. The result, while not entirely unexpected, was a testament to Atalanta's tactical discipline and clinical finishing. Entering the match, Atalanta had shown inconsistent form, making this win a significant boost to their campaign. The game saw Atalanta take control with a well-structured performance. The first breakthrough came in the 41st minute when Éderson (GAP +4.5%) found the back of the net, giving Atalanta a deserved lead. The Brazilian midfielder's contribution was pivotal, as he not only scored but also orchestrated play from the midfield. Atalanta doubled their advantage in the 60th minute through Nicola Zalewski (GAP +2.3%), whose goal effectively sealed the victory. Zalewski's performance was instrumental, showcasing his ability to influence the game from wide areas. In terms of tactical adjustments, Atalanta's head coach made five changes during the match, bringing in Raoul Bellanova, Giacomo Raspadori, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Odilon Kossounou, and Sead Kolasinac. These substitutions were likely aimed at maintaining the team's intensity and defensive solidity. Lazio, on the other hand, struggled to break down Atalanta's organized defense. Despite making five substitutions themselves, including the introduction of Nicolò Rovella and Boulaye Dia, they failed to create significant scoring opportunities. Ivan Provedel (GAP +2.1%) in goal was kept busy but could not prevent the two goals. The result leaves Lazio needing to reassess their approach as they aim to climb the Serie A table. For Atalanta, this victory could serve as a catalyst for a strong finish to the season, boosting their confidence and league standing.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
