About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a tightly contested Serie A encounter, Cremonese and Genoa played out a goalless draw on Sunday, 15 February 2026. The match, held as part of Gameweek 25, saw both teams struggle to find the back of the net, resulting in a 0-0 stalemate. This result was not entirely unexpected given the form and league positions of both sides, as neither team has been particularly prolific in front of goal this season. The game itself lacked significant goalmouth action, with neither side able to create clear-cut chances. The defensive setups from both teams were effective in nullifying any attacking threats, leading to a match that was more of a tactical battle than an open, attacking spectacle. Cremonese and Genoa both fielded unchanged lineups from their previous matches, indicating a level of consistency in their selections. However, neither manager opted to make any substitutions during the game, perhaps reflecting satisfaction with their teams' performances or a lack of impactful options on the bench. Without any standout individual performances or goals to highlight, the match was largely defined by its defensive solidity. The lack of goals and major incidents meant that the game did not produce a clear Man of the Match, and post-match reactions focused on the need for both teams to improve their attacking output. This draw leaves Cremonese and Genoa in similar positions in the Serie A table, with both teams needing to find more consistency in their performances to climb higher. The result does little to change their standings significantly, but it does provide a platform for both teams to build upon as they look to improve in the coming weeks.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
