About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

AC Milan delivered a commanding performance in their Serie A clash against Bologna, securing a 3-0 victory at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on Tuesday, 3 February 2026. This result was largely expected given Milan's superior form and league position compared to Bologna. The match saw AC Milan take control early on, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek (GAP +3.1%) opening the scoring in the 20th minute. His goal set the tone for the Rossoneri, who dominated possession and created numerous chances. Christopher Nkunku (GAP +5.5%) doubled the lead in the 39th minute, showcasing his clinical finishing ability. The second half began with Adrien Rabiot (GAP +4.2%) adding a third goal in the 48th minute, effectively sealing the win for Milan. Tactically, AC Milan's midfield, orchestrated by Luka Modric (GAP +4.7%), controlled the tempo of the game, limiting Bologna's opportunities to counter. Bologna struggled to break down Milan's defense, with Mike Maignan (GAP +4.7%) ensuring a clean sheet with a couple of crucial saves. In terms of lineup changes, AC Milan's head coach made no changes from their previous match, maintaining a consistent starting eleven. Bologna, on the other hand, introduced several substitutes in the second half, including Nikola Moro and Federico Bernardeschi, in an attempt to change the game's dynamics, but to no avail. This victory solidifies AC Milan's position near the top of the Serie A table, continuing their impressive run of form. Bologna, meanwhile, will need to regroup and address their defensive vulnerabilities as they look to climb up the standings in the coming weeks.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
