About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Fulham secured a surprising 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League clash at Craven Cottage. The result was unexpected given Tottenham's higher league standing and recent form, but Fulham capitalized on their chances to claim all three points. The match began with Fulham taking an early lead through Harry Wilson (GAP +1.7%) in the 7th minute, setting the tone for a competitive encounter. Fulham doubled their advantage in the 34th minute when Alex Iwobi (GAP -0.2%) found the back of the net, putting the hosts in a commanding position. Tottenham responded in the second half with Richarlison's goal in the 66th minute, but it wasn't enough to overturn the deficit. Tactically, Fulham's manager made two changes to the starting lineup, bringing in Issa Diop and Oscar Bobb, while Joachim Andersen and Kevin were left out. Tottenham also made two changes, with Dominic Solanke and Pedro Porro coming into the side, replacing Pape Matar Sarr and Djed Spence. These adjustments were likely influenced by a combination of tactical decisions and injury concerns, as Tottenham were missing several key players due to injuries and suspensions. Pedro Porro (GAP +2.7%) was a standout performer for Tottenham, contributing significantly to their attacking efforts, while Bernd Leno (GAP +1.4%) was crucial for Fulham, making several important saves to maintain their lead. The victory lifts Fulham's spirits as they look to climb the Premier League table, while Tottenham will need to regroup and address their defensive vulnerabilities. This result could be a turning point for Fulham as they aim to build momentum in the latter stages of the season.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
