About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Liverpool delivered a commanding performance at Anfield, defeating West Ham United 5-2 in a Premier League clash that showcased their attacking prowess. The result was largely expected given Liverpool's strong form and home advantage, but the margin of victory was impressive. The match began with a bang as Hugo Ekitiké (GAP +2.2%) opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 5th minute, setting the tone for a dominant first half. Virgil van Dijk (GAP +4.6%) doubled the lead in the 24th minute, capitalizing on a set-piece situation. Alexis Mac Allister (GAP +3.6%) added a third just before halftime, leaving West Ham with a mountain to climb. West Ham showed some resilience after the break, with Tomáš Souček (GAP +1.1%) pulling one back in the 49th minute. However, Liverpool's response was swift and decisive. Cody Gakpo (GAP +1.5%) restored the three-goal cushion in the 70th minute, and Axel Disasi (GAP -0.8%) sealed the victory with a goal in the 82nd minute. Taty Castellanos (GAP +5.5%) managed a consolation goal for West Ham in the 75th minute, but it was too little, too late. Liverpool made one change to their lineup from the previous game, with Joe Gomez coming in for Curtis Jones. This adjustment seemed to bolster their defensive solidity, allowing them to transition effectively into attack. West Ham, on the other hand, fielded an unchanged lineup, which struggled to cope with Liverpool's intensity. Alisson Becker (GAP +5.6%) was instrumental in goal, making crucial saves that kept West Ham at bay during their brief periods of pressure. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah (GAP +3.3%) was a constant threat on the wing, contributing significantly to Liverpool's attacking movements. This victory solidifies Liverpool's position in the upper echelons of the Premier League table, maintaining their push for a top-four finish. West Ham, however, will need to regroup quickly as they look to avoid slipping further down the standings. Post-match reactions highlighted Liverpool's clinical finishing and tactical discipline as key factors in their victory. The home team's manager praised the squad's performance, emphasizing the importance of maintaining momentum in the final stretch of the season.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
