About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a tightly contested Serie A encounter, Como secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi on Sunday, 10 May 2026. The decisive moment came in the 71st minute when Tasos Douvikas found the back of the net, ensuring Como took all three points from this crucial match. The game was largely balanced, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances in the first half. However, Como's persistence paid off in the second half when Douvikas capitalized on a rare opportunity to score the only goal of the match. This result was somewhat unexpected, as Hellas Verona, playing at home, were looking to capitalize on their recent form to climb the Serie A table. Tactically, both teams made several substitutions to try and gain an advantage. Hellas Verona introduced Isaac Aguiar Tomich, Sandi Lovrić, and Ioan Vermeșan in an attempt to inject fresh energy into their lineup. Meanwhile, Como's head coach made strategic changes by bringing on Ivan Smolčić, Maxence Caqueret, Alberto Moreno Perez, Ignace Van der Brempt, and Martin Baturina, which ultimately helped them maintain their lead. The victory for Como is significant as it boosts their position in the Serie A standings, providing them with much-needed momentum as the season approaches its conclusion. For Hellas Verona, this defeat is a setback in their quest to secure a higher league finish, and they will need to regroup quickly to bounce back in their remaining fixtures. Post-match reactions highlighted the importance of Douvikas' goal, with fans and analysts praising his composure and finishing ability. The result leaves both teams with much to ponder as they prepare for their next challenges in the league.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
