About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a tightly contested Serie A encounter, Juventus and Hellas Verona played out a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday. The result, while perhaps unexpected given Juventus' stature, reflects the competitive nature of this season's Serie A, with both teams showing resilience and tactical discipline. The match began with Hellas Verona taking an early initiative, and they were rewarded in the 34th minute when Kieran Bowie found the back of the net. This goal was a result of a well-coordinated attack that caught the Juventus defense off guard. Juventus, however, responded in the second half with Dušan Vlahović coming off the bench to equalize in the 62nd minute, showcasing his clinical finishing ability. Juventus made five changes to their lineup, with notable inclusions such as Dušan Vlahović, who made a significant impact by scoring the equalizer. The home team manager opted for tactical rotations, bringing in players like Teun Koopmeiners and Jeremie Boga to inject fresh energy into the squad. Hellas Verona also made three substitutions, including the introduction of Sandi Lovrić and Abdoulrahmane Harroui, as they sought to maintain their defensive solidity and counter-attacking threat. In terms of individual performances, Bremer (GAP +5.8%) stood out for Juventus with a commanding presence in defense, while Pierre Kalulu (GAP +4.3%) also contributed significantly to the team's efforts. For Hellas Verona, Roberto Gagliardini (GAP -1.8%) and Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro (GAP -2.9%) were pivotal in midfield, although their GAP scores suggest room for improvement. This draw leaves Juventus in a precarious position as they aim to secure a European spot, while Hellas Verona will be satisfied with a point that helps them in their quest to climb the Serie A table. Both teams will need to capitalize on their remaining fixtures to achieve their season objectives. Post-match reactions highlighted the competitive spirit of both teams, with the Juventus manager emphasizing the need for sharper finishing in future games. Meanwhile, Hellas Verona's head coach praised his team's defensive resilience and ability to execute their game plan effectively. As the Serie A season approaches its climax, every point is crucial, and this draw could prove pivotal in the final standings.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
