About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Preview for the game Barcelona vs Celta Vigo

Barcelona come into this Gameweek 33 clash in outstanding league form, having taken the maximum 15 points from their last five La Liga matches. That perfect run contrasts sharply with Celta Vigo’s return of just 4 points over the same span, with one win, one draw and three defeats. The Plus Minus model strongly reflects this gap in momentum, giving Barcelona a 77% chance of victory, with only a 16% probability of a draw and 7% for an away win. Recent head-to-head data also leans Barcelona’s way, though Celta have been competitive. Barcelona edged a 4-3 thriller at home in April 2025 and won 2-1 away in February 2024, while the most recent meeting in Vigo finished 4-2 to Barcelona. Across these four latest league encounters, Barcelona have scored at least twice every time. In this context, creative influence from Pedri (GAP +5.4%) and the direct threat of Lamine Yamal (GAP +9.0%) could be decisive for the hosts, while Celta will look for defensive stability from Óscar Mingueza (GAP +4.4%) and the organisation in front of goalkeeper Ionuț Radu (GAP +2.0%) to contain a high-volume Barcelona attack. Injuries and availability Barcelona are without Raphinha, who is sidelined with a biceps femoris injury and is expected to be out until early May after being ruled out since 26 March. Andreas Christensen also remains unavailable due to a partial anterior cruciate ligament tear, with his absence dating back to 20 December and a projected return around the end of April. In addition, Marc Bernal is confirmed to miss Gameweek 33 because of ankle discomfort, having been out since 4 April. Celta Vigo have no listed injuries or suspensions in the current data.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
