Game Review
Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer 04 Leverkusen played out a 1-1 draw in their Bundesliga clash on Saturday, 7 February 2026. The match, held at Borussia-Park, saw both teams share the spoils in a game that was evenly contested and reflected the pre-match expectations of a closely fought encounter. The game started with Borussia Mönchengladbach taking an early lead through Yannik Engelhardt (GAP +1.2%), who found the back of the net in the 10th minute. Engelhardt's goal set the tone for a competitive first half, with the home side looking to capitalize on their advantage. However, Bayer Leverkusen responded just before the break, with Philipp Sander (GAP +0.3%) equalizing in the 44th minute to ensure the teams went into halftime on level terms. In terms of tactical adjustments, both managers opted for a few changes from their previous lineups. Borussia Mönchengladbach's manager made several substitutions during the match, bringing in Shuto Machino, Hugo Bolin, Alejo Sarco, Joe Scally, and Fabio Chiarodia to inject fresh energy into the team. Bayer Leverkusen's head coach also made strategic changes, introducing Martin Terrier, Christian Kofane, Ernest Poku, Robert Andrich, and Exequiel Palacios to maintain their competitive edge. Key performances included Alex Grimaldo (GAP +5.2%) and Edmond Tapsoba (GAP +5.1%) for Bayer Leverkusen, both of whom were instrumental in their team's defensive solidity and attacking transitions. Patrik Schick (GAP +3.0%) also played a significant role, although his impact was somewhat marred by a late yellow card. This result leaves both teams in a similar position in the Bundesliga table, with neither side able to gain a significant advantage. Borussia Mönchengladbach will be looking to build on this performance as they aim to climb the table, while Bayer Leverkusen will be satisfied with a point away from home, maintaining their steady form in recent weeks. Post-match reactions highlighted the balanced nature of the game, with both managers acknowledging the fair result. The draw reflects the competitive nature of the Bundesliga this season, where every point is crucial in the race for European spots.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
