About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a thrilling Serie A encounter at the Allianz Stadium, Juventus and Lazio played out a 2-2 draw, a result that neither side would have been entirely satisfied with given their ambitions in the league. Juventus, coming into the match with a mixed form, were expected to capitalize on their home advantage, but Lazio proved to be resilient opponents. The match began with both teams probing for weaknesses, but it was Lazio who struck first. Pedro opened the scoring right at the stroke of halftime, giving Lazio a crucial lead going into the break. Just two minutes into the second half, Gustav Isaksen doubled Lazio's advantage, putting Juventus under significant pressure. Juventus, however, showed character and resilience. Weston McKennie pulled one back in the 59th minute, reigniting the hopes of the home fans. The match seemed to be slipping away from Juventus as the clock ticked down, but Pierre Kalulu emerged as the hero, scoring a dramatic equalizer in the 90th minute to salvage a point for the Bianconeri. Both managers made several changes to their lineups. Juventus introduced Fabio Miretti, Loïs Openda, Lloyd Kelly, Jeremie Boga, and Edon Zhegrova during the match, while Lazio brought on Tijjani Noslin, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Matteo Cancellieri, Alessio Romagnoli, and Patric. These substitutions were tactical, aiming to inject fresh energy and adapt to the evolving dynamics of the game. The result leaves Juventus in a precarious position as they aim to climb the Serie A table. For Lazio, the draw is a testament to their fighting spirit, but they will rue the missed opportunity to secure all three points after leading by two goals. Both teams will need to reflect on their defensive lapses as they prepare for the next round of fixtures. Post-match reactions highlighted the resilience of both sides, with players and fans acknowledging the intense competition. This draw keeps the race for European spots in Serie A wide open, with both Juventus and Lazio needing to find consistency in their upcoming matches.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
