About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In an engaging Serie A encounter, Fiorentina and Torino played out a 2-2 draw on Saturday, 7 February 2026. The match, held at Fiorentina's home ground, saw both teams share the spoils in a game that was as competitive as it was entertaining. The game began with Torino taking the lead in the 26th minute through Cesare Casadei (GAP -0.6%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse to put the visitors ahead. Fiorentina responded in the second half with Manor Solomon (GAP +0.9%) leveling the score in the 51st minute. Just six minutes later, Moise Kean (GAP +0.9%) put Fiorentina ahead, showcasing his striking prowess. However, the drama was far from over. In the dying moments of the match, Guillermo Maripán (GAP +0.8%) salvaged a point for Torino with a crucial equalizer in the 90th minute, ensuring the visitors left with a share of the points. From a tactical standpoint, both teams made several changes to their lineups. Fiorentina's manager opted for a fresh approach by introducing Cher Ndour, Roberto Piccoli, Jack Harrison, Luca Ranieri, and Giovanni Fabbian from the bench. Torino's head coach also made strategic substitutions, bringing in Duván Zapata, Zakaria Aboukhlal, Faustino Anjorin, Giovanni Simeone, and Marcus Pedersen to inject energy into the squad. The result leaves Fiorentina in a reflective mood as they missed the chance to climb higher in the Serie A standings. Meanwhile, Torino will be satisfied with their resilience, having managed to secure a point away from home. Both teams will look to build on this performance as they continue their campaigns in the league.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
