Game Review
Real Madrid delivered a commanding performance in their La Liga clash against Real Sociedad, securing a 4-1 victory at home. This result was largely anticipated given Real Madrid's strong form and squad depth, although Real Sociedad's early goal did provide a brief moment of uncertainty. The match began with Real Sociedad taking an unexpected lead in the 21st minute through Mikel Oyarzabal (GAP +2.7%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse. However, Real Madrid quickly responded, with Vinícius Júnior (GAP +4.4%) equalizing just four minutes later. The Brazilian winger was a constant threat throughout the match, and his second goal shortly after halftime put Real Madrid firmly in control. Federico Valverde (GAP +5.8%) added to the scoreline in the 31st minute, showcasing his ability to drive forward from midfield and finish clinically. The early goal by Gonzalo García set the tone for Real Madrid's dominance, as they maintained pressure and controlled possession effectively. Tactically, Real Madrid's manager made no changes to the starting lineup from their previous match, indicating confidence in his current squad. In contrast, Real Sociedad's head coach opted for a few adjustments, bringing in players like Orri Óskarsson and Beñat Turrientes during the game to try and shift the momentum. Trent Alexander-Arnold (GAP +7.7%) was instrumental in Real Madrid's attacking play, providing width and delivering precise crosses that troubled the Real Sociedad defense. His performance, alongside the solid defensive contributions from Antonio Rudiger (GAP +6.7%), ensured Real Madrid's backline remained resilient after the initial setback. This victory solidifies Real Madrid's position at the top of the La Liga table, extending their lead and maintaining their unbeaten run. For Real Sociedad, the defeat highlights the need for tactical adjustments as they aim to climb the standings and secure a European spot. Overall, Real Madrid's blend of attacking flair and defensive solidity proved too much for Real Sociedad, who will need to regroup and focus on their upcoming fixtures to regain momentum.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
