Game Review
In a tightly contested Serie A encounter, Atalanta edged past Hellas Verona with a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to a decisive goal from Davide Zappacosta (GAP +3.4%) in the 37th minute. The match, played on Sunday, 22 March 2026, saw Atalanta maintain their recent form, having entered the game with a solid run of performances. The key moment of the match came just before halftime when Zappacosta found the back of the net, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Hellas Verona. This goal proved to be the difference in a game where both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances. Atalanta's defense, marshaled by Marco Carnesecchi (GAP +4.0%) in goal, held firm against Verona's attempts to equalize. Tactically, Atalanta's manager made strategic use of his substitutes, bringing in Lazar Samardžić, Isak Hien, Yunus Musah, Giacomo Raspadori, and Mario Pasalic to maintain the team's intensity and defensive solidity. Hellas Verona's head coach also made several changes, introducing Al-Musrati, Antoine Bernède, Tomáš Suslov, Daniel Akinbiyi Oyegoke, and Amin Sarr in an attempt to inject fresh energy into the side. From a statistical standpoint, Marten de Roon (GAP +5.6%) was instrumental in Atalanta's midfield, providing both defensive cover and linking play effectively. Éderson (GAP +4.7%) also stood out with his dynamic performance, contributing significantly to Atalanta's control in the middle of the park. This result sees Atalanta continue their push up the Serie A table, consolidating their position and building momentum as the season progresses. For Hellas Verona, the defeat is a setback, but their performance showed resilience and potential for improvement in upcoming fixtures. Post-match reactions highlighted the importance of Zappacosta's goal, with fans and analysts praising his decisive contribution. The win reflects Atalanta's growing confidence and tactical discipline, key factors as they aim to secure a strong finish in the league.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
