About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a thrilling Serie A encounter, Lazio emerged victorious with a 3-2 win over Genoa on Friday, 30 January 2026. The match, played at Lazio's home ground, saw the hosts secure a hard-fought victory that was not entirely unexpected given their recent form and home advantage. The game kicked off with both teams showing attacking intent, but it was in the second half that the match truly came alive. Pedro (GAP +0.8%) opened the scoring for Lazio in the 56th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Genoa. Lazio doubled their lead just six minutes later through Kenneth Taylor, putting them in a commanding position. However, Genoa responded swiftly, with Ruslan Malinovskyi (GAP +0.3%) pulling one back in the 67th minute. This goal was followed by another from Vítor Oliveira (GAP -1.4%) in the 75th minute, leveling the score and setting up a tense finale. Lazio's persistence paid off in the dying moments of the match when Danilo Cataldi (GAP +1.1%) scored the decisive goal in the 90th minute, sealing the win for the home side. Tactically, Lazio's manager made no changes to the starting lineup from their previous match, indicating confidence in his squad's ability to deliver. Genoa's head coach, on the other hand, made several substitutions, bringing in Junior Messias, Patrizio Masini, Caleb Ekuban, and Maxwel Cornet to inject fresh energy into the team. Mario Gila (GAP +2.9%) was a standout performer for Lazio, contributing significantly to their defensive efforts and helping to maintain their lead. Alessandro Marcandalli (GAP +2.4%) also impressed for Genoa, despite the team's eventual defeat. This victory strengthens Lazio's position in the Serie A standings, boosting their momentum as they aim for a top-four finish. Genoa, while showing resilience, will need to regroup and address their defensive vulnerabilities to improve their league position. Post-match reactions highlighted the thrilling nature of the game, with fans praising Lazio's determination and Genoa's spirited comeback attempt. The result leaves Lazio in a positive position as they look to build on this performance in their upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
