Game Review
In an exhilarating La Liga encounter, Atlético Madrid edged out Real Sociedad with a 3-2 victory at home. The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams showcasing their attacking prowess. This result was somewhat expected given Atlético's strong home form, but Real Sociedad's spirited performance kept the contest on a knife-edge until the final whistle. The game kicked off with a bang as Alexander Sørloth (GAP +3.2%) put Atlético ahead in the 5th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Real Sociedad. However, the visitors responded swiftly, with Carlos Soler (GAP +1.5%) equalizing in the 9th minute, setting the tone for a fiercely contested match. The second half saw Atlético's tactical adjustments pay dividends. Nicolás González, who came on as a substitute, made an immediate impact by scoring twice in quick succession in the 67th and 81st minutes. His introduction was a masterstroke by the Atlético manager, providing the cutting edge needed to break down a resilient Real Sociedad defense. Real Sociedad, not to be outdone, pulled one back through Mikel Oyarzabal in the 68th minute, keeping the pressure on Atlético. Despite their efforts, they couldn't find the equalizer, with Jan Oblak (GAP +5.7%) making crucial saves to preserve the lead. In terms of lineup changes, Atlético Madrid made five substitutions, bringing in Johnny Cardoso, Antoine Griezmann, Nicolás González, Julián Álvarez, and Marcos Llorente. Real Sociedad also made five changes, introducing Beñat Turrientes, Arsen Zakharyan, Brais Méndez, Goncalo Guedes, and Mikel Oyarzabal. These changes were tactical, aimed at injecting fresh energy into the game. This victory solidifies Atlético Madrid's position in the upper echelons of the La Liga table, maintaining their push for a top-four finish. Real Sociedad, despite the loss, can take heart from their performance, which demonstrated their ability to compete against top-tier opposition. The result leaves them needing to regroup and focus on their upcoming fixtures to climb the standings.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
