Game Review
In a tightly contested La Liga encounter, Real Sociedad edged past Mallorca with a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to a solitary goal from Carlos Soler (GAP -2.5%) in the 36th minute. This result was somewhat expected given Real Sociedad's superior league position and form coming into the match. The game was characterized by a disciplined defensive display from both sides, but it was Real Sociedad who managed to capitalize on their chances. Carlos Soler's goal came from a well-executed team move, highlighting his importance to the side despite his negative GAP. Mallorca struggled to break down the visitors' defense, with their key players like Vedat Muriqi (GAP +0.6%) unable to make a significant impact. Real Sociedad's manager made strategic changes, bringing in Pablo Marín, Ander Barrenetxea, Luka Sučić, and Yangel Herrera during the match. These substitutions helped maintain their defensive solidity and control in midfield. On the other hand, Mallorca's manager introduced Manu Morlanes, Mateu Morey, Javi Llabrés, Zito Luvumbo, and Abdón Prats in an attempt to inject fresh energy and creativity, but it wasn't enough to alter the outcome. Mikel Oyarzabal (GAP +3.5%) was a standout performer for Real Sociedad, providing leadership and creativity in attack. His positive GAP reflects his influence on the game, as he was pivotal in orchestrating the play that led to the winning goal. This victory solidifies Real Sociedad's position in the upper echelons of the La Liga table, while Mallorca remains in the mid-table, needing to find more consistency in their performances. The result underscores Real Sociedad's resilience and ability to grind out results, a trait that will be crucial as they aim for European qualification. Post-match reactions highlighted the tactical discipline of Real Sociedad, with fans and pundits praising their ability to manage the game effectively after taking the lead. Mallorca will need to regroup and focus on their upcoming fixtures to regain momentum.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
