Game Review
In a thrilling La Liga encounter, Real Sociedad secured a 2-1 victory over Barcelona, a result that might surprise some given Barcelona's stature but reflects the competitive nature of this season's league. Real Sociedad, playing at home, capitalized on their opportunities with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal (GAP +1.3%) in the 32nd minute and Goncalo Guedes (GAP -3.8%) in the 71st minute. Barcelona's response came swiftly with Marcus Rashford scoring in the 70th minute, but it wasn't enough to overturn the deficit. The match was a tactical battle, with Real Sociedad's disciplined approach paying dividends. Oyarzabal's opener set the tone, exploiting a lapse in Barcelona's defense. Guedes' goal, coming just a minute after Barcelona's equalizer, highlighted Real Sociedad's resilience and ability to respond under pressure. Barcelona's lineup featured no changes from their previous match, suggesting a stable approach from their head coach. Key players like Jules Koundé (GAP +6.8%) and Alejandro Balde (GAP +6.7%) were instrumental in defense, but the team struggled to convert possession into goals. Lamine Yamal (GAP +9.7%) was a standout performer, showcasing his potential despite the team's defeat. Real Sociedad, on the other hand, maintained their lineup consistency, which seemed to bolster their team chemistry and effectiveness on the pitch. Their strategy to absorb pressure and strike on the counter was executed flawlessly. Post-match reactions highlighted the tactical acumen of Real Sociedad's management, with praise for their ability to neutralize Barcelona's attacking threats. This victory propels Real Sociedad further up the table, enhancing their momentum as they aim for a strong finish in the league. Barcelona, meanwhile, will need to reassess their strategies to regain their winning form and maintain their position among the league's elite.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
