Game Review
In a tightly contested Bundesliga clash, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Bayern München played out a 1-1 draw on Saturday, 14 March 2026. The result was somewhat unexpected given Bayern's status as perennial title contenders, yet Leverkusen's resilience at home proved to be a significant factor. The match began with an early breakthrough for the home side, as Aleix García (GAP +0.6%) found the back of the net in the 6th minute, giving Leverkusen a crucial lead. This early goal set the tone for a competitive first half, with Leverkusen managing to hold off Bayern's advances. Bayern München responded in the second half, with Luis Díaz (GAP +7.1%) equalizing in the 69th minute. However, Díaz's evening took a turn for the worse when he received a red card in the 84th minute, leaving Bayern to finish the match with ten men. This disciplinary issue was a turning point, as it curtailed Bayern's momentum and allowed Leverkusen to hold on for a draw. Tactically, both teams made several changes from their previous outings. Leverkusen's manager opted for a stable lineup, while Bayern's head coach made strategic substitutions, bringing in Min-jae Kim, Tom Bischof, Leon Goretzka, and Harry Kane to bolster their efforts. The changes were aimed at maintaining pressure and adapting to the game's flow, but the red card incident disrupted their plans. Key performances included Jonathan Tah (GAP +7.1%) and Dayot Upamecano (GAP +7.7%), who were instrumental in their respective defensive duties. Joshua Kimmich (GAP +9.8%) also stood out for Bayern, contributing significantly to their midfield control. This draw leaves Bayer Leverkusen in a stable position, continuing their recent form of resilience. For Bayern München, the result is a minor setback in their title chase, highlighting the need for discipline and composure in crucial matches. Both teams will look to build on this performance as they approach the final stretch of the Bundesliga season.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
