Game Review
Arsenal secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Newcastle United in their Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to an early goal from Eberechi Eze (GAP +2.3%). This result was largely expected given Arsenal's recent form and their position in the league table, where they have been consistently challenging for a top-four finish. The match's decisive moment came early, with Eze finding the back of the net in the 9th minute. Arsenal's ability to maintain this lead throughout the match was a testament to their defensive solidity, particularly highlighted by standout performances from Gabriel Magalhães (GAP +6.5%) and William Saliba (GAP +6.5%). Newcastle, despite their efforts, struggled to break down Arsenal's organized defense. Tactically, Arsenal's manager made a single change from their previous lineup, bringing in Ben White (GAP +0.8%) for Cristhian Mosquera. This adjustment seemed to bolster their defensive setup, which was crucial in maintaining their clean sheet. Newcastle United, on the other hand, made five changes, including the return of Jacob Murphy (GAP +1.4%) and Dan Burn (GAP +3.0%). These changes were likely influenced by a mix of tactical rotation and managing injuries, as several key players were either doubtful or injured. In terms of individual performances, Declan Rice (GAP +4.5%) and Martin Ødegaard (GAP +4.4%) were instrumental in controlling the midfield, providing the necessary support to both the defense and attack. Kai Havertz (GAP +4.2%) also contributed significantly to Arsenal's forward play, although he couldn't add to the scoreline. This victory keeps Arsenal firmly in the hunt for a Champions League spot, while Newcastle's defeat leaves them needing to regroup as they aim to secure a mid-table finish. The result reflects Arsenal's strong home form and their ability to grind out results even when not at their attacking best. Post-match reactions highlighted Arsenal's resilience and the importance of Eze's early goal. The home team's manager praised the squad's defensive discipline, which was crucial in securing all three points. Overall, this match was a testament to Arsenal's tactical discipline and ability to capitalize on early opportunities, setting them up well for the final stretch of the season.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
