About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a tightly contested Premier League encounter at Hill Dickinson Stadium, Bournemouth emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Everton. This result was somewhat unexpected given Everton's home advantage and their recent form, but Bournemouth's resilience and tactical adjustments paid dividends. The match began with Everton taking the lead in the 42nd minute through Iliman Ndiaye (GAP +1.6%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse to put the hosts ahead. However, Bournemouth responded strongly in the second half. Rayan (GAP +0.5%) equalized in the 61st minute, showcasing his clinical finishing ability. Just three minutes later, Amine Adli (GAP +1.2%) scored what proved to be the winning goal, turning the game on its head. A significant turning point came in the 69th minute when Everton's Jake O'Brien (GAP +2.0%) was shown a red card, reducing the home side to ten men and making their task of finding an equalizer even more challenging. Everton's manager made two changes to the lineup from their previous match, bringing in Jarrad Branthwaite and Tyrique George, while Michael Keane and Harrison Armstrong were left out. These changes were part of a tactical rotation, although the absence of Keane due to suspension was a forced decision. Bournemouth also made two changes, with Ryan Christie (GAP +2.3%) and Alex Tóth coming into the starting eleven, replacing Lewis Cook and Eli Junior Kroupi. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) statistics highlighted several key performances. Ryan Christie and Jake O'Brien both had notable impacts on the game, with Christie contributing significantly to Bournemouth's attacking play. Post-match reactions focused on Bournemouth's ability to capitalize on their numerical advantage and Everton's struggle to maintain their lead. The result leaves Everton needing to regroup as they aim to climb the league table, while Bournemouth will be buoyed by this away victory, which could serve as a catalyst for a strong finish to the season.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
