Game Review
In a closely contested Serie A encounter, Napoli secured a 2-1 victory over Torino on Friday, 6 March 2026. The match, held at Napoli's home ground, saw the hosts take an early lead and maintain their advantage despite a late surge from the visitors. Napoli started the game on the front foot, with Alisson de Almeida Santos opening the scoring in the 7th minute. His early goal set the tone for Napoli, who looked to capitalize on their home advantage. Torino, however, struggled to find their rhythm in the first half, with key players like Nikola Vlašić (GAP -1.3%) unable to make a significant impact. The second half saw Napoli doubling their lead through Eljif Elmas (GAP -0.1%) in the 68th minute, a goal that seemed to put the game beyond Torino's reach. However, Torino's persistence paid off when substitute Cesare Casadei found the back of the net in the 87th minute, setting up a tense finale. Despite their efforts, Torino could not find an equalizer. Tactically, Napoli's manager made several changes, bringing in Pasquale Mazzocchi, Miguel Gutiérrez, Romelu Lukaku, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, and Kevin De Bruyne. These substitutions were part of a strategic rotation to maintain freshness and tactical flexibility. Torino's head coach also made five changes, introducing Che Adams, Sandro Kulenović, Cesare Casadei, Faustino Anjorin, and Marcus Pedersen, aiming to inject energy and creativity into the side. From a statistical standpoint, Mathías Olivera (GAP +4.5%) and Leonardo Spinazzola (GAP +3.8%) were standout performers for Napoli, contributing significantly to both defensive solidity and attacking transitions. For Torino, Duván Zapata (GAP +2.1%) showed glimpses of his potential but was largely contained by Napoli's defense. This victory helps Napoli solidify their position in the Serie A standings, providing a crucial boost as they aim to secure European qualification. Torino, on the other hand, will need to regroup quickly to avoid slipping further down the table. The result reflects Napoli's recent form, having entered the match with a positive run, while Torino will need to address their inconsistencies to improve their league standing.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
