About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

AC Milan secured a 2-0 victory over Cremonese in their Serie A clash on Sunday, 1 March 2026. The match, held as part of Gameweek 27, saw AC Milan extend their impressive form, while Cremonese struggled to capitalize on their home advantage. The game remained goalless until the final moments, with both teams having limited clear-cut chances. However, AC Milan's persistence paid off in the 90th minute when Rafael Leão (GAP +1.0%) broke the deadlock, showcasing his attacking prowess. Just moments later, Strahinja Pavlović (GAP +4.4%) doubled the lead, sealing the win for the visitors. Tactically, AC Milan's lineup featured no changes from their previous match, indicating a stable strategy from their head coach. The inclusion of experienced players like Luka Modric (GAP +3.7%) and Christian Pulisic (GAP +5.0%) provided a solid backbone for the team. Modric, in particular, orchestrated the midfield with his usual finesse, contributing significantly to Milan's control over the game. Cremonese, on the other hand, made several substitutions during the match, including the introduction of Milan Đurić and Filippo Terracciano. Despite these changes, they struggled to break down a resilient Milan defense led by Fikayo Tomori (GAP +4.7%). This result leaves AC Milan in a strong position as they continue their pursuit of a top-four finish in Serie A. For Cremonese, the defeat highlights the challenges they face in climbing the league table, as they failed to convert their opportunities into goals. Post-match reactions praised AC Milan's disciplined performance, with particular commendation for their late-game composure. The victory reflects their current form, having now secured multiple wins in recent fixtures, boosting their confidence for the upcoming matches.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
