Game Review
In a tightly contested La Liga encounter, Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad played out a 1-1 draw at San Mamés on Sunday. The result was a fair reflection of a match that saw both sides have their moments, although Real Sociedad might feel they let a victory slip through their fingers after leading for much of the game. The match began with Real Sociedad taking the initiative, and they were rewarded in the 37th minute when Goncalo Guedes found the back of the net. Guedes' goal was a result of a well-executed counter-attack, showcasing Sociedad's ability to transition quickly from defense to attack. The game took a significant turn in the 83rd minute when Brais Méndez received a red card, reducing Real Sociedad to ten men. This dismissal shifted the momentum in favor of Athletic Bilbao, who capitalized on their numerical advantage. Just five minutes from time, Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta, who came on as a substitute, scored the equalizer, ensuring the home side salvaged a point. Both managers made several changes to their lineups, with Athletic Bilbao introducing five substitutes, including Iñaki Williams and Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta, who played pivotal roles in the latter stages of the match. Real Sociedad also made five changes, with Brais Méndez being one of the substitutes before his eventual sending off. This draw leaves both teams in a similar position in the league table, with Athletic Bilbao maintaining their mid-table status and Real Sociedad continuing to push for a European spot. The result reflects the competitive nature of La Liga this season, where every point is crucial. Post-match reactions highlighted the resilience of Athletic Bilbao, with their manager praising the team's fighting spirit. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad's head coach expressed disappointment at not securing all three points but acknowledged the challenge of playing with ten men. Looking ahead, both teams will need to build on this performance as they aim to achieve their respective season objectives. Athletic Bilbao will be encouraged by their late comeback, while Real Sociedad will focus on maintaining discipline in future matches to avoid similar situations.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
