About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Sevilla secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao in their La Liga clash on Saturday, 24 January 2026. The match, part of Gameweek 21, saw Sevilla overturn an early deficit to claim all three points, a result that aligns with their recent form and expectations. The game began with Athletic Bilbao taking the lead in the 40th minute through Robert Navarro (GAP -1.4%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse to put the visitors ahead. However, Sevilla responded swiftly, with Peque (GAP -1.5%) equalizing just two minutes later, ensuring the teams went into the break on level terms. The second half saw Sevilla take control, with Akor Adams (GAP +2.3%) scoring the decisive goal in the 56th minute. His performance was instrumental in Sevilla's comeback, showcasing his ability to influence the game significantly. In terms of lineup changes, Sevilla's manager made strategic substitutions, introducing Andrés Castrín, Manu Bueno, Oso, Chidera Ejuke, and Joan Jordán to maintain the team's momentum. Athletic Bilbao also made changes, bringing on Nico Serrano, Nico Williams, and Mikel Vesga in an attempt to alter the game's dynamics. Tactically, Sevilla's ability to adapt after conceding was crucial. Their midfield, led by Nemanja Gudelj (GAP +0.6%), managed to stifle Bilbao's advances, while Odisseas Vlachodimos (GAP -0.8%) in goal provided a stable last line of defense. This victory sees Sevilla continue their positive trajectory in La Liga, consolidating their position in the upper half of the table. For Athletic Bilbao, the defeat is a setback, but their performance showed promise, particularly in the first half. Post-match reactions highlighted Sevilla's resilience and tactical flexibility, with fans praising the team's ability to recover from an early setback. The result keeps Sevilla in contention for European spots, while Athletic Bilbao will need to regroup and focus on upcoming fixtures to climb the table.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
