Game Review
In a tightly contested La Liga encounter, Girona secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Villarreal, thanks to a decisive goal from Pau Navarro just before halftime. This result was somewhat unexpected, given Villarreal's stronger position in the league standings and their recent form, which had seen them pick up crucial points in their last few matches. The match's pivotal moment came in the 45th minute when Pau Navarro found the back of the net, giving Girona a lead they would defend resolutely for the remainder of the game. Despite Villarreal's efforts to equalize, they were unable to break down a well-organized Girona defense. Girona's manager made strategic use of his substitutes, bringing on Alejandro Francés, Thomas Lemar, Joel Roca, Hugo Rincón, and Abel Ruiz to maintain their lead and inject fresh energy into the team. Villarreal also made several changes, introducing Sergi Cardona, Tajon Buchanan, Alfon, and Alexander Freeman in an attempt to alter the game's dynamics, but these adjustments did not yield the desired outcome. The absence of any red cards meant that both teams finished with their full complement of players, but Villarreal's inability to capitalize on their possession and chances ultimately cost them the match. This victory is a significant boost for Girona, who have been striving to climb the La Liga table. For Villarreal, the loss is a setback in their pursuit of European qualification, and they will need to regroup quickly to maintain their position in the upper echelons of the league. Post-match reactions highlighted the importance of Navarro's goal and Girona's defensive resilience. The home team's manager praised his players for their discipline and tactical execution, which were crucial in securing the three points.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
