About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Barcelona delivered a commanding performance in their La Liga clash against Sevilla, securing a 5-2 victory at home. This result was largely anticipated given Barcelona's strong form and Sevilla's struggles this season. Raphinha (GAP +8.6%) was the standout performer, netting a hat-trick with goals in the 9th, 21st, and 51st minutes, showcasing his clinical finishing and positioning. The match began with Barcelona asserting their dominance early on. Raphinha opened the scoring in the 9th minute, setting the tone for the rest of the game. He doubled the lead in the 21st minute, capitalizing on Sevilla's defensive lapses. Dani Olmo (GAP +3.6%) added to the scoreline in the 38th minute, further extending Barcelona's lead before halftime. Sevilla managed to pull one back just before the break through Oso (GAP -0.9%), but it was not enough to shift the momentum. In the second half, Barcelona continued their offensive onslaught. Raphinha completed his hat-trick in the 51st minute, reaffirming his status as the man of the match. João Cancelo (GAP +3.5%) added a fifth goal in the 60th minute, effectively sealing the victory for the Catalans. Sevilla's Djibril Sow (GAP -2.3%) scored a consolation goal in the 90th minute, but it was too little, too late. Barcelona's manager made five substitutions, bringing on Ronald Araújo, Gavi, Fermín López, Lamine Yamal, and Marc Casadó to maintain the team's energy levels. Meanwhile, Sevilla's head coach also made five changes, introducing Manu Bueno, Andrés Castrín, Ruben Vargas, Chidera Ejuke, and Neal Maupay in an attempt to alter the course of the game. This victory solidifies Barcelona's position in the upper echelons of the La Liga table, continuing their pursuit of the title. For Sevilla, the defeat highlights their ongoing defensive issues and leaves them needing to regroup as they look to improve their standing in the league.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
