Game Review
Atlético Madrid secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Getafe in their La Liga clash on Saturday, 14 March 2026. The match, held at Atlético's home ground, was decided by an early goal from Nahuel Molina (GAP -1.8%) in the 8th minute. This result was largely expected given Atlético's superior form and league position compared to Getafe. The game began with Atlético Madrid asserting their dominance early on. Nahuel Molina's goal came from a well-executed set-piece, giving the home side an early advantage. Despite Getafe's efforts to respond, their task was made significantly harder when Abdel Abqar (GAP -0.1%) was sent off with a red card in the 55th minute, reducing them to ten men. In terms of tactical setup, Atlético Madrid's manager made no changes to the starting lineup from their previous match, maintaining a consistent approach that has served them well in recent weeks. On the other hand, Getafe's head coach opted for a few adjustments, bringing in players like Martín Satriano and Zaid Romero, though the reasons for these changes were not specified in available reports. Key performances included José María Giménez (GAP +4.0%), who was instrumental in maintaining Atlético's defensive solidity, and Juan Musso (GAP +3.9%), whose crucial saves ensured a clean sheet for the hosts. For Getafe, David Soria (GAP -0.6%) was kept busy throughout the match, making several important stops to keep the scoreline respectable. The victory consolidates Atlético Madrid's position in the upper echelons of the La Liga table, as they continue their push for a top-four finish. Meanwhile, Getafe's struggles persist, as they remain in the lower half of the standings, needing to find form quickly to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle. Post-match reactions highlighted the importance of Molina's early goal and the impact of the red card on Getafe's ability to compete. Atlético's manager praised the team's resilience and defensive organization, while Getafe's head coach lamented the missed opportunities and the disciplinary issues that marred their performance.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
