About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a surprising turn of events, Getafe managed to secure a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in their La Liga clash on Monday, 2 March 2026. The match, held at Real Madrid's home ground, saw the visitors take all three points thanks to a solitary goal from Martín Satriano in the 39th minute. Real Madrid, who were expected to dominate given their superior squad and home advantage, struggled to break down a resolute Getafe defense. The home side's lineup featured no changes from their previous match, with key players like Thibaut Courtois (GAP +6.6%) and Antonio Rudiger (GAP +7.0%) starting. Despite their efforts, Real Madrid couldn't find the back of the net, largely due to a solid performance from Getafe's goalkeeper David Soria (GAP -0.6%). Getafe's tactical setup was effective in neutralizing Real Madrid's attacking threats. The away team made two substitutions, bringing in Adrian Liso and Mario Martín to bolster their defensive setup as the game progressed. The standout performance came from Martín Satriano, whose goal was enough to seal the victory for Getafe. Trent Alexander-Arnold (GAP +7.7%) was one of the few bright spots for Real Madrid, contributing significantly to their attacking plays, but it was not enough to overcome Getafe's organized defense. Vinícius Júnior (GAP +4.6%) also showed flashes of brilliance but was unable to convert his efforts into goals. This result is a significant setback for Real Madrid, who were looking to maintain their momentum in the league. For Getafe, this victory provides a crucial boost in their fight to climb the La Liga table. The win could be a turning point in their season, providing them with the confidence needed to secure more positive results in the coming weeks.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
