Game Review
In a tightly contested La Liga encounter, Athletic Bilbao edged past Real Oviedo with a 2-1 victory at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere. The result, while not entirely unexpected given Bilbao's superior league position, showcased the resilience of both teams in a match that was decided by key moments in the second half. The game began with Real Oviedo taking an early lead through Ilyas Chaira (GAP -2.0%), who found the net in the 30th minute. This goal set the tone for a competitive first half, with Oviedo showing they could challenge their more illustrious opponents. However, Athletic Bilbao responded strongly after the break. Mikel Jauregizar (GAP -0.1%) equalized in the 58th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from the home side. The decisive moment came in the 71st minute when Oihan Sancet (GAP +0.1%) scored the winner for Bilbao, demonstrating his knack for being in the right place at the right time. His goal capped off a period of sustained pressure from the visitors, who had gradually taken control of the game. Athletic Bilbao's lineup saw no changes from their previous match, indicating a stable selection strategy from their head coach. In contrast, Real Oviedo made several substitutions during the game, bringing in Lucas Ahijado, Álex Forés Mendoza, Thiago Fernández, Nicolás Fonseca, and the experienced Santi Cazorla to try and turn the tide. Key performances included Iñaki Williams (GAP +3.9%), whose pace and movement troubled the Oviedo defense throughout, and Aymeric Laporte (GAP -1.6%), who marshaled the Bilbao backline effectively. Post-match reactions highlighted the tactical discipline of Athletic Bilbao, with their head coach praising the team's resilience and ability to execute their game plan under pressure. Real Oviedo, despite the loss, can take positives from their performance, particularly in the first half where they matched Bilbao's intensity. This victory consolidates Athletic Bilbao's position in the upper echelons of the La Liga table, while Real Oviedo remains in the lower half, needing to find consistency to climb the standings. The result reflects the ongoing challenges for Oviedo as they strive to secure their place in the league.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
